ABOUT A MOUNTAIN
“From death in the valleys, save us, O Lord” – Jerzy Kukuczka
Who made the mistake? Who is guilty of death? What happened? The mountains have
their own laws – they all know that. The realization of the series of drawings is my comment on this issue. It is a way to pay homage to those who once for all became one with the mountains and also to those who may share their fate in the future. It is also a way to express my longing for the mountains.
Each drawing is a new climbing, a new journey into myself, a struggle with myself. Preparing a place to work, collecting the documentation and photographs is organizing the journey. The preliminary sketch is setting up the first base. Drawing the top of the mountain is the attack to the peak. Finishing the drawing is the return to the base. There has to be good weather. But in the mountains there is always good weather.
