Hello, I’m Julia
I currently live and work in Poland.
The work I do is a result of my inner need to develop, to constantly search for myself, to confront myself and the world, and also a way of dealing with the difficulties of life. I am inspired by the everyday life of the people I meet and by the images they capture somewhere en passant.
The youthful search in the area of analogue photography, which I temporarily abandoned, is constantly breaking through in my works. They can be seen in framing, in contrast, in search of black or texture. Photography, however, was no longer enough in itself, becoming the starting point for further actions.
Over time, it became clear that the characteristic feature of my work was the process, but it was not understood as a recurring issue, but as an inseparable method of work. In my works I use various techniques and materials. Everything depends on a given project, its specificity, or simply my inner need.
That’s why I’m far from categorising or drawing. Due to the variety of techniques used, I identify myself more with interdisciplinary artists than with one single artistic discipline.
I am a graduate of the University of Zielona Góra in Poland, where I completed two master’s degrees in the following fields: Animation of Culture and Visual Arts (at that time: Artistic Education in the Fine Arts Sector). I completed my artistic diploma (2016) in the Drawing and Interdisciplinary
Studio (ISW UZ) under the direction of prof. Radosław Czarkowski.
Then I started my doctorate studies at the Faculty of Humanities in the field of History. After I gave up my
third-level studies after the first year, I appreciate the experience I gained there. First of all, I had the opportunity to teach Film History and Art History, i. e. the subjects that coincided with my interests. It is also worth mentioning that the subject of my doctoral thesis was closely related to art : “Carnality aesthetics based on the works of 20th and 21st century artists”.
